Michelin to offer refunds

You heard it here first!

http://www.michelin.com/corporate/ac...codeRubrique=4

They will offer refunds for around 100,000 2005 ticket holders and will buy 20,000 '06 tickets to go to 2005 ticket holders. I think other organizations (Teams, FOM) will cough up the remaining 80,000.

I also read in the run up to the hearing at the FIA tomorrow that the treatment of the teams would be much better IF Michelin footed the bill on the refunds.

And, since the announcement is one day before the hearing, I'm starting to think it's true.

Either way, it's the right thing to do, by the people who caused the root problem.

100% agree, they are offering to 'refund' the 120,000 spectators, but I wonder what they mean by 'refund'??

If a Ferrari fan flew across the Atlantic and took a week's holiday solely to watch this farce, what will Michelin refund? The ticket? the air fare plus ticket? The salary the spectator lost for taking time off work to travel to the US, plus hotel bills, food etc????

They have also offered to buy 20,000 tickets for the 2006 US Grand Prix to be given to this year's fan's. (will there be a 2006 US Grand Prix??)

No details as of yet (I'm watching the Indy Morning News). I have a feeling it will just be the face value of tix. There is no way they could compensate all of the trip (s). The estimated cost to Michelin is $10 million, with another $2 million for the 20,000 2006 tix. I have a feeling that these will be give away tix for Michelin-they'll do huge promotions giving away the tix & get a lot more press out of it than the $2 million they'll spend. Their marketing dept. ain't fools.
