American in F1?

Rumors are brewing that Bryan Herta could step into Alex Yoong's seat at Minardi for the last three races of 2002 (due to Yoong's inablility to qualify - he's missed 25% of the races so far). Minardi's current test driver. Fernando Alonso (who's driving for Renault next year), will drive likely drive the two races prior to Herta taking over (conveniently in time for the races, Monza and Indy, on a major American network, ABC).

Cheers, BT

I wouldn't doubt it. It's amazing that they let Alex Yoong drive at all. I guess they really needed the 20 mil sponsorship money.

RedBull Energy Drinks are conducting a search for an American F1 driver to possibly win the driver's championship.

That's for sure. His own teammate was quoted as saying he sucks - actually he said he was "over his head in F1" I beleive.

This is an odd season. Frenzen just quit Arrows and there's speculation that he could be driving for Jordan prior to the next race due to Sato's inexperience - and since Honda is abandoning Jordan the team didn't feel much loyalty to the Japanese driver. To be fair he is probably the best Japanese driver ever in F1 in terms of talent (he was the British F3 champion last year - no easy task), he's just too inexperienced for F1 and probably won't get the chance to get the experience necessary to really compete.

Cheers, BT

The latest statments say that they will not get the American.

It would be better to people in the US if they had there own driver. So, I hope you guys get a driver there soon.

Jeff Gordon

It would be more interesting to see Jeff behind the wheel of an F1 car, No?

Jackie Stewart was quoted as saying that he felt Jeff Gordon was the only American currently racing that he felt could be F1 champion.

Yeah, forgot the guy's name. I think Yoong was 3rd or 4th choice until the $$$ came up.

MBMWAUDI - noticed on your sig that you're getting a 760i. I've heard lots of little gremlins showing up in the 745i's now. Just some FYI to possibly prevent some headaches.

Thanx a Million Bobby ///M3

I know what you mean about the 745, Infact The 760Li Isnt out yet and I've just placed my deposit so if the car's nice I could get an early delivery but I will be waiting for some reviews before i decide to buy the car.. or else I'll plan on the SL-600!

Will decide once the 760Li is out.

Oh that Indian Guy was narain karthikeyan!
Jaguar also tested him last year I remember at silverstone.

And it seems he is good but then he has no $$$...

You might want to read this board...

http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e65/

There's some good info about the e65's in the real world.

If I was in your position, I'd go with the SL600. And I'm a BMW guy. If you're really set on getting a 760iL, I'd say wait at least a year after they're out. Beautiful car though.
