Vintage Mercedes Racer
Not sure which one but there was 1920's or 30's mercedes benz racer at the historic races at Laguna Seca. The car has a massive 21.5 litre engine with each cylinder having a bore of 7 inches!

But anyways it was a great year with excellent cars and excellent weather.

Was it running? The vibration has to be incredible. A 21.5 liter inline four just boggles the mind. That's almost the total displacement of an S600 V12 per cylinder. How does it not shake itself to pieces? We were still using indian-head pennies when Benz built this monster.

Yea they ran it around Laguna Seca haha. It was pretty crazy. But they were not running it hard and they only ran it for one or two laps. Im not sure because i was leaving at the time but i could here from the grandstands on front straight when it was just exiting the corkscrew.

The 1909 Blitzen Benz was running at Laguna Seca during one of the parade laps to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Brooklands raceway. Unfortunately, the 98 year old record setter (over 125 mph in 1909) was not up to the task that day. It came out of the paddocks, being pushed by about 4 guys and had one hell of time starting on pit row. I don't think it even made a complete lap before heading back to the paddocks. What a shame. It would have been fun to see it hit some sort of speed on a modern track.
