Racing Mercedes
Looks I have become this forum's post-***** tonight; but I had to mention the "Racing Mercedes" broadcast last night on SpeedVision.
Did anyone else catch it?
Alain De Cadenait introduced an incredible photographic and film
documentary on our brand that literally began at the beginning (1890's!!!) and followed the MB heritage forward through the world's first automotive cross country outing, Paris-Rouen (1904? I think) to the first GP (France) and the hissy-fit the Frogs had when MB beat Peugeot where-in the French cancelled the event for several years! Through the first German GP, the first world war and Daimler's intra-war claim on the Brits that they wanted royalties on the "Prisoner of War" Benz racer they confiscated and copied RAF bomber engines from!
Other than WAY TOO MANY commercials, a terrific show!

Yeah, I've seen that before - it's pretty cool. That's the first of three parts. I like the second part which covers up to WW2, my favorite racer from this period was the W154.
Cheers, BT
This one looks like it's about to lose the right front.
