The *** is Last... (Monaco Preview)
Fernando Alonso's start as Tail-End Charlie in today's Monaco GP has mayhem written all over it. The back half of the grid will need to keep one eye focused on their collective sixes, like newbie inmates in a state penn shower room.
Just two races ago in China, Alonso insanely interlocked wheels with his own teammate on the narrow, rain-slick entrance to pit road, shoving Massa aside to be first to the Ferrari pit box. Somehow, disaster was miraculously avoided. But Alonso very easily could have taken out both Ferraris, blocking the entrance to pit road for the entire field in the process.
At Monaco five years ago, the Donkey watched M. Schumacher carve his way from last to an excellent 5th at the finish. Not to be outdone, the *** will doubtless try to do the same, albeit with far less precision and patience. Who knows what carnage will resut. The Monaco GP starts in 40 minutes.

Ah, due to some crafty team strategy...
The Ferrari team sure knows how to save the day. Thanks to a very sly decision to pit Alonso on lap 2 during the safety car period, he then got a free pass on 10-11 cars when they pitted later. Stopping quickly when no one else did, and then going the remainder of the distance without stopping meant that the Donkey didn't have to push half the field aside to get into a 6th place finish. Or maybe the team realized they would have to rebuild a second car following the weekend if they didn't pit him on lap 2.
