Help, engine knock??
My father owns a 97 E420 and we started hearing something like a valve knock. It kept getting worse so we brought it to a MB specialist in my area. He said it's probably the camshaft oilers which tend to crack after time. He went ahead and changed it, but that wasn't it. So he kept going saying that it might be a valve, that wasn't it.
Now, this guy keeps guessing as to what it might be and it's running my father some serious $$$ without fixing the problem. None of the things that he already fixed was the problem.
Does anyone have any idea what it can be? and is it worth to keep digging into the engine or would it be cheaper to rebuild it?
The engine has 140,000 miles on it already
