Smile 190E Increased Horsepower??

Hi Guys...I recently came across an online webpage explaining a varienty of 190E modifications. I have a 1993 190E 2.3, and one of the modifications discussed an easy way of getting more horsepower. The author states that by removing the reference resistor, or the R16/1 resistor (same thing I guess), you can increase timing, therefore increasing horsepower. He says that the resistor is located behind the black cover near the battery. The resistor is wrapped in black electrical tape. I've looked like mad but cannot find anything. If anyone can tell me where this resistor is located, maybe by looking in a MB service manual, that would be great.
Thanks for anyone that can help!!!!
