Rough start

Sl500 95,

Engine cranks fine, but then shakes the whole car really bad until warmed up.

It goes away gradually and there is no abnormal noise that i can hear, but its just a very violent shape until the RPMs drop to 500-600rpm

when it starts (cold) it keeps it at 1000rpm for a while.

Any idea what can be causing hte massive shaking?

I found out it only does it in the very cold temps or during the rain. Seems like water/moisture has something to do with it?

Check the fuel pressure regulator.

FYI:

Also check the cam advance plungers under the electro-magnetic covers. Sometimes one will stick open(out), causing one cam to stay advanced and cause a rough idle, common on a M119 engine with high miles and poor oil quality.
