Do not believe that there is a setting or that one is necessary to run 93 octane. I do it all the time

Doesn't that engine have a knock sensor? It thought all MB gas engines had knock sensors by now. The knock sensor automatically adjusts the engine's ignition timing on the fly to optimize whichever octane you're running at the moment. This is to prevent burning up your engne from preignition in case you put in low octane, while at the same time the engine can take fulll advantage of premium gasoline. No adjustment is ever necessary.

Have the dealer's shop do it for your client when the car's in for its' next service. My understanding is that you need the factory software to do this-it's not something that can be done with aftermarket tools...yet.

Mine did it for the asking, no charge.

Try a different dealer...one who knows what's going on and/or doesn't try to blow you off.
