Question Turning off the service indicator for a 05 W211

Hi all. Thought I might try here on this forum before posting on the W211 forum. I have a 2005 E320 CDI that I recently serviced for it's first 13K mile service A (yes, for 05 there is no longer any FSS) with a well known and reputable independant mechanic who only only works on MB's here in Dallas. We used all OEM parts but we can't seem to get the service indicator lamp to shut off. We have followed the manual for the reset procedure but it seems as though we have had no luck. Can anyone help me and walk me through it step by step procedure. It seems very odd that it is this difficult to turn it off.
Thanks so much.
Jay

If your independent is really that familiar with MB he should be able to do it!! Taking an 05 to an independent?? Thats not really smart while its under warranty!! Why not spend a few extra dollars and have it done right at a dealer's??

Sosh, thank you for the reply. Factors including cost, time and customer service are reasons why I didn't take it to a MB service centre. I don't think it would add value to this forum for me to expand further. Regarding the warranty, I have already spoke with MBUSA and there are no issues. The ind. mech is very knowledgeable but for some reason with the 05's he can't seem to turn off the service indicator, hence my question.

I'm surprised (or not) that your owner's manual doesn't tell you how to turn it off. If you couldn't find it listed under 't' then it may be in a more obscure place...like 'o'.

sorry I didn't understand the humour Did I miss something?
BTW, I did finally learn to turn off the indicator with the help of the friendly people on the W211 board. You guys are all great.

I was being sarcastic about how hard it is to find things in the MB owners manuals. And often when you do, it makes no sense as to the location. So now that you and a few others know how....are you going to share it with the rest of us? I have no need to know right now other than curiousity.

LOL, thanks for clarifying! You're right, the manual is a textbook. As for the instructions, I believe someone posted a link on the W211 forum to a MB website with tech "how-to's". See attched. Hope this helps.
