o2 sensor code/check engine light comes on and goes off on new sensors, WHY!?

Why would my check engine light go on and create O2 codes on new sensors?
I replaced them and had codes. We cleared them but it came back right away and now a day later it stopped?

Is this an issue or should I consider it resolved

Could be for any number of reasons. An O2 sensor code does not necessarily mean the O2 sensor is faulty. All it means is that the computer 'saw' a problem on the O2 sensor circuit. Could be faulty wiring, leaky injectors, or even a faulty-out-of-the-box O2 sensor.
Your car has OBD II diagnostics. Knowing the exact O2 sensor code is important for figuring out which way to approach the repair. Further, an OBD II code requires three drive-cycles to clear a code once repairs are made.

Thanks for the quick reply. What is a drive cycle considered? Starting and shutting down the car? Or is there a time factor involved.
I am going to check the exact code again and will post it.

There is time factor, warm-up and cool-down, driving conditions under which the component is tested, and it varies for different systems. For an oxygen sensor, I suspect that three seperate trips where the engine is allowed to cool off between said trips will do the trick.

Any cracks in the exhaust system?

Doesn't sound like it, and no black marks on any of the flanges or pipes. I have one brand new cat. All looks pretty tight and right on the exhaust.
Any other ideas?

Also, I never had any issues before replacing the o2 sensors just as a maintenance proceedure. Go figure
