Question on 2000 W210
As I had posted before, I just purchased a 2000 E55 with 48k miles. I live in FL and bought the vehicle in Houston,TX. I drove the vehicle back to FL. It drove excellent, but when I got home I noticed that the " engine check" light came on. I was going to get it checked but the following day it turned off? My question is should I still get it checked out even though it turned off? Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that your computer will remember the fault even though the light has turned off. Have a dealer use the STAR diagnostic system on the vehicle and see if any faults or past faults exist.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to take it to the dealer on Friday. BTW the light turned on again today. I am just hoping that it is nothing too serious. On another topic I am also a little bummed out because I found out that I can't use the integrated phone system because the Motorolla StarTac that it brings is old "analog" technology.

Same Thing Happend To Me I Recently Got A Used 2000 E-430 After 2 Day Check Engine Lights Came On Then Gone The Next Day, Then Came Back Again, It Came On And Off For 3 Days Until Finally On For Good So I Brought It To A Mercedes Shop Friend Of Mine And He Pluged The Obdii Code Reader And Isolated The Problem To 1 Defective O2 Sensor (our Cars Have Four) And A Defective Air Mass Sensor, So The Next Day I Bought The Air Mass Unit For $270 And One O2 Sensor For $120 From The Dealer And Lo And Behold The Check Engine Light Is Gone. Hope This Helps You

I just found out what it was that triggered the CEL as most people would have guessed it is the MAF. I am very happy that it was nothing serious. Even better I found the part on-line original new in the box for only $250.00
In case anyone needs this part here is the website www.egermanparts.com
I was just wondering if anyone knows just how much a faulty MAF can be affecting my overall performance. The car is running good right now, but at times I do feel it sluggish on take off and low RPM.
