Mercedes all the way!
W220 - engine start problem, error messages
hi all, this is for my friend's S280L which as some might know has been having problems since he bought it second hand recently.
there's been a new development in this saga.
when he starts the car, the engine sputters - sounds like the crank is winding but the engine doesn't catch. after a while, the engine starts, but the LCD is full of error messages - Airmatic DC fault, BAS fault, ESP fault - and keeps saying "Drive to Workshop". now, he would have done that but there's no qualified workshop anywhere near.
for the past few days, the SRS warning has been coming up as well, but that's solved itself.
after a few minutes of driving, everything is normal! Airmatic works fine, ESP off light does'nt come on, and the brakes seem normal. however, there's a strange vacuum-cleaner sound when Airmatic raises the vehicle, although not at any other setting.
this guy's S seems to be a harbinger of bad luck! since it came my own S's vacuum doors have stopped working as well (as can be read on another thread in this forum
