Oil psi always on 3 bar when car is on. (W124 3.0)

Just got this car ('92 300CE w/104k miles) and can't imagine that this is a correct indication. Should I just shotgun the sending unit or is there some other typical problem to check?
TIA,
Dan

Put a direct reading pressure gage on the engine and see if its different than the panel gage. It can be installed where the pressure sender is installed

It should read something less than 3 bar, especially at idle after the car has been run for a while. It sounds like the needle is pinned for some reason... bad oil pressure sender?.... short somewhere?

Warm engine at idle should be just over 1 bar. At something like 1,200 RPM and up it should be pegged.

Could just be a loose connector, they read full pressure when the circuit is essentially an open, and no pressure when shorted out or with low resistance.

Great info thanks... If I can find the thing to have a look, I'll check it out. Any guidance on where that sender is?
TIA,
Dan
