Squeaky driver's seat

Not a big deal, but just enough to be annoying...my driver's seat squeaks when I get in and out of the car as well as when I make turns while driving. When it was serviced at the local MB dealer, one of the things I mentioned was if they could do something about it. But they were unable to. So, are my only options to deal w/ it or buy a new seat? I doubt it's covered under warranty or is it? Thanks for any advice.

Is it

Is it the cheap plastic pieces on the front and side of the seat. If so I have had an on again off again problem with the same thing in my S500

Looks like this is endemic to all MB models. A common cure is to glue felt strips on the edges of the plastic covers where they touch the leather.

seat noise

If the felt doesn't help and it is not the plastic rubbing against the leather. There is modifications that can be done to the seat adjuster assy to correct noises and if that doesn't help, a new seat adjuster can be installed ( these repairs are usually done when in warrenty, so hopefully it is fixed with the felttape). Just my $.02.

In the past I have used very light coatings of sprayable silicon grease. This is bought from an electronics specialist.

It mixes with whatever gunk is already there and generally penetrates very well. I dont like using WD40 or anything like that because it smells terrible.

Adding some felt tape is probably not such a bad idea but I find that the noise can come from a location where two non-like materials are joined. Such as a plastic cover panel attached to a metal frame.

The stress and wear loosens the fit and that causes an increase in the allowed movement. Then it becomes a domino effect to find the original cause.

Sorry to read that I'm not the only one.

But I appreciate the advice. I haven't tried to see if it's the seat on the rail/mount or if it's the plastic pieces rubbing against the metal that's causing the noise. But I'll try your suggestions once I can locate the source and see if it'll help. Thanks.

Just another thought - look at the rear of the seat, underneath, and you may find rubber plugs at each back corner that slide through metal collars - if that's the source of the noise, then a little talc powder will do the trick.
