Coolant Question

OK so my E350 manual says the coolant is "MB 325.0 Anticorrosion / Antifreeze"

That's really nice, but when I'm in the land of Autozone and Pep Boys, is this the same stuff that GM calls Dexcool???

Nope. Suggest you use what MB suggests.

The only acceptable MB coolant substitute is Xerex G-05, it's identical to the MB stuff.

H-townbenzoboy has it right. On the rear label of a 1gal. container of ZEREX G-05 is the following :

"G-05 is used in the production of the following vehicles:
>All Mercedes Vehicles"

and others.

Thanks for the translation. Doing a big drive home for Christmas and still not quite used to the MB after 20 years of Olds and Cadillac . . .

What MB recommends...

....is MB part no. 001989240310, and no substitutes in my owner's manual. Written on the rear label of Prestone it says "Prestone Extended life 5/150 Antifreeze/Coolant is compatible with: Daimler Chrysler vehicles (2001 & newer)." By 'compatible' they are referring to the level of aluminum protectants....that Xerex and MB part no. 001989240310 also have. Also, when my radiator was replaced at 40K miles MB filled it with the fluorescent green/50K antifreeze which I don't believe has the same protectant level. I replaced it immediately.
