Question Need direction replacing rear pads 03 c230 Sport Sedan

Decided to tackel replacing rear pads. Removed rear wheel and determined pads are worn. Looks like all I have to do is drive a thin long pin. And manage a pad retaining spring and lift out the pads. I know that I will have to spread the pistons when installing the new pads. What concerns me is that I can't see any evidence of wear sensors. I looked at both pads on both rear wheels and cant determine sensor existance. I know that a sensor must exist somewhere because my console did message me of worn pads. I'm hesitant to proceed without knowing how to manage the sensor situation.

can any of you techs out there advise me?

I'm no tech, but.....

Are you sure the pad warning is from the rear pads? Some/most C class only have sensors on the front wheel(s). The wear sensors are mounted/pushed in holes in the pad.

brakes pad sensors in front only on some vehicles

If your rear pads appear thin...do them. If the brake wear warning light is on check your front pads too. Remember to replace the sensors. If this is your first set of pads then rotors are probably o.k. however, if this is the second set then replacement of rotors may be nessesary. There is a special tool to spread the pistons in the caliper after old pads are removed. a standard spreader may not work. With the pins out--I suggest you use a large screwdriver or better yet--small prybar to gently move the piston back 1.0 mm on each side, reinstall the old pads then gently pry against the pad bracing the screwdriver on the outer rim of the rotor--use a shop rag to protect the screwdriver-rim contact point---be careful not to damage the rotor. Hope this helps.

I do see a sensor on a front pad. Dealer replaced front pads about 5k ago. $250.00 cost.
I guess both front and rear pads now need replaced. Visually the front pads show about 3/16th pad remaining and the rear show about 1/8'remaining. Seems pads wear faster then I expected. Total miles on car 29k. I don't feel confident to self replace the front pads so I guess I'll have to take the car to the dealer and spend big bucks. The rear rotors have a 1/16" edge ring. Maybe rotors need replaced also.
