92 300E Two Probs: Trans and Cruise
Within the past week two problems have popped up on my 92 300E that have me just a bit off. I went through SEARCH and did not find what I was looking for so here we go. I am on the road so this is diagnostics on the fly.
Trans. The auto feels like the clutch is slipping as it pulls out from a stoplight 'sometimes'. Yes, I know it does not have a clutch in the literal sense but that is how it feels. On one occasion it literally gave no pull for a couple of seconds at all then works fine. All other shifts are smooth as silk.
Cruise. When engaging the cruise, it pulsates between the 'set' speed and a few mph lower at 3-5 sec intervals each. It does this at 80 and 30 and every thing in between. I will be home to check the repair manuals in a few days but would like to know if problems are on the horizon before I make the 1500 mile trek back home. Or if something needs addressed NOW.
Thanks

At the mileage you show the trans could need a repair but I would suggest a complete overhaul/rebuild. The cruise has some functions that work on a vacuum diaphram and could need replacement of those components or, perhaps a sensor.
