2003 s500 air suspension issues

I have a problem with my 2003 s500's air suspension. When I drive the car, it constantly says to pull over the car is too low. After I drive it, and park it, the front right in particular is very low (tire is tucking in the fender). And when i re-start the car, i hear the air compressor filling the shock with air and the rising. My guess is that the shock cannot hold air, but does that mean i need to change the etire suspension??? Is this a common problem, has anyone else experienced this???

thanks for any and all help

daniel

This is a common problem. There is a leak at the line to the strut. There is a DTB out about this issue. Ask your dealer to perform it.

Thank you very much...

excuse my ignorance, but what is a DTB??? And also, how much should I expect to pay to fix this problem, as the ca is out of warranty??

Thanks again,

Daniel

I have the same issue but with both my right struts, front and back. 1 hour into parking, it goes flat and sits low. Start, put into gear, it comes right back up. How did you fix yours? no DTB available I guess, at least I didn't ask. I kinda know what the response to that will be. Any assistance? did you have a valve block clog issue? How much did you end up paying? Please advise.

Being how old these cars are now, I would guess that your rf and rr struts are leaking, if they are the original struts. That is assuming that there are no leaks in the lines to the struts. Leaks in the lines are a low probability. RF strut could be leaking at the air fitting on the top of the strut which the DTB addresses, or it could be leaking elsewhere on the strut.

This is going by experience. The only way to be sure is to have it diagnosed and checked for leaks throughout the entire airmatic system, as there are other points for leakage.

If the struts are leaking, the only remedy is to replace them.

You should have it repaired asap as the increased running of the airmatic pump will wear it out and cause it to fail.

Using air for suspension is one of the silliest ideas, imo. Too many points for failure and expensive to repair.
