C320 tech inspection help in N CA
I'm brand new to this forum but I hope to be a regular in the future if my dream of owning my first-ever Mercedes comes true. I am currently looking to buy a 2001 C320W (4-door sedan w/sport package) w/64K miles. It was a trade-in to RAB Motorsports in San Rafael, CA & had one owner & all service records but for whatever reason does not seem to be a pre-certified car (I'm double-checking to see if that was just an error on the website). While I am a car enthusiast for my other car, I am absolutely not a car techie.
After browsing another forum & this one for the last 4 hours, I'm kinda worried about getting this used C320 without having it inspected - there seem to be a lot of issues for a lot of people. I'm someone who plans to keep the car "forever" i.e. I don't plan to replace the car for the latest flavor of the month or to get a newer/better model. I'm hoping that if I do get the car that I'll be one of the lucky few who don't have major issues.
How do I go about finding a good, independent third party to do a tech inspection/look-see on the vehicle? Are there any folks in this forum whom I could contact that might spare an hour over this weekend to help me out? I'd be willing to pay for his/her services. Or does anyone have any recommendations for a reliable, independent service shop in the Northern California/Marin area that I could contact to get some tech inspection help? Thanks in advance for any advice!
