98 C230 cruise (speed) control dropping out
My wife was driving our 98 C230 last night and said the when the car started to decend a small hill on the highway the cruise control would drop out. Causing her to reset it until the next time it came to the downside of a hill. She stated that after the 4th or 5th time the check engine light came on.
I test drove the car today. the cruise control works fine until you get over 55 mph. THEN it drops out. It will not set over 55 mph either. Set it at 54 and it will work all the way to the next downhill run. You hit 56 and it drops out. You set the cruise at 45 works all day roll down a hill and get to 56 and it drops out.
Need some help here people. :-) Any hints or clues??
PS. check engine light was scanned. P0170 showed up. Checked for vacuum leaks and tightened the clamps on the induction system. Reset the check engine light and no more codes. Relevent? Don't know.
