C Class / Parameter Steering

C class and Parameter steering

At Korea, there is only one exclusive MB distributor ,who has selected some options for a car and sold it like a package car. There has been no buyer's option except buying or not-buying ( ridiculous...).

The distributor sold lots of C class without parameter steering option. And many C class owners have been complained the steering wheel feels so heavy ,especially low speed or parking.
They believe that with parameter steering the problem
can be solved.

My question is ;

Anybody knows whether the parameter steering option
can be attached at after market? If yes, how much it costs?
Is it very difficult and complicated job ? Please give some
hints.

Thanks in advance.

This will cost a lot because, for example, you will need a new ESP-unit too.

ESP ....

Patrick ,thanks for giving your opinion.

As I understand , ESP is a standard equipment of C class.

And at some countries, parameter steering is an option , which
costs about US$200 for factory installation.

The exclusive distributor asks US$4,800 to attach it with excuse
that many parts should be replaced. This is the point I don't
understand.

Is it a kind of servo motor acting to the speed?
As long as there is already ESP , why other parts should
be replaced?

Are there two kinds of ESP, one having parameter steering
adaptability and another having no adaptability?

Thanks.

If you have PML, these functions are integrated in the ESP-unit. If you do not have PML, you have a different ESP-unit without the PML-function. So this unit needs to be replaced too, even if you already have ESP.
Apart from this, PML requires a whole new steering system, wiring, reprogramming of several ECU's,...and a wheel alignment.
