1992 300E 2.6 Glovebox won't open
I am having problems opening the glovebox. It is not locked. It seems that when I lift the lever on the glovebox lid, it is only retracting the locking pin on the right hand side (this is a right hand drive car).
Any clues?

sorry, the the box was unlocked and the lever was stuck in the up postion and would not open. I removed the 4 screws holding the carpet under the glovebox, then removed the 4 hinge screw, this allowed me to pull the glovebox out at the bottom to access the the two latch hold screws. (glovebox out) remove the screws holding the latch(4), reset postion of latch and lockbar...job done good luck

Thank you for our suggestion. However, the 300e must be slightly different as you can't get to the hinges from underneath. The dashboard wraps down a fair way into the footwell.

Glovebox Now Open
Ended up taking it to local Mercedes Dealer who wriggled it open.
The lid is slightly out of alignment so the catch is not fully releasing. A push to the left seems to get it open.
There is no adjustment on the catch/striker plate so I'll pull it apart and realign the hinges.
