Mercedes 1991 500SEL Auto / Noisy Rear!
Hello People,
This forum has never let me down so here goes! Hope you can help!
Have a 1991 500SEL which I havent had for long.
Ive started getting a noise from the rear which seemed at first to be binding of the brakes on one wheel - More recently it seems as if both wheels are making a noise and also getting hot. Seems to me like the brakes might not be releasing fully but is there anything more obvious. Theres also a burning smell and the noise stops when I press the brakes. It got really bad the other day with lots of people in the car !
Also, Am suffering from erratic gear changes (This one is AUTO)....Sometimes revs away (like a slipping clutch) before banging into gear - Any ideas on this....My local dealer suggested it might be the gearbox pressure or bands that need attention.
Its a lovely car with 209000 miles on......Dont ever want it to go wrong!
