violent vibration and acceleration misfire 98slk 230

I'm a newbie on MBWorld and I would appreciate any advice on my slk. My slk has a very rough idle causing alot of vibration. I first noticed the vibration in reverse on one of the first cooler days that I had the car and the vibration wasn't as bad when the weather was warmer. Now, the vibration is worse. I was thinking it might be the engine mounts. Also, when I accelerate with a little more force than a golf cart my engine misfires and begins to sputter(like water in the fuel) and the check engine light comes on. When I turn off the engine and restart the sputtering goes away; however, the check engine light remains on for a couple of days, then goes off, until it happens again. I would appreciate any advice! Thanks!!

Have the computer read out by a dealer. That is the only way you are going to find out the problem without guessing.
