New MAF; reset Adaption Values?

Just heard from my MB dealer that the MAF needs to be replaced on my '96 E320. They stated that when replacing the MAF, that the adaption values need to be reset with the MB computer. I've already ordered the replacement Bosch MAF. Is the reset of the adaption values by the dealer necessary or will these automatically reset and adjust after a few driving cycles? Thanks.

There are different views on this, the dealers want to reset the values because they don't want you coming back in a day with a CEL showing ,the other view is that the values will reset to normal as you say after three driving cycles. Can't see a problem so long as you are aware that the CEL may continue to come on for a while.See this thread; http://www.mercedesshop.com/shopforu...ptation+values .
Cheers , Geo.
