Unhappy Confused about Mercedes 6.9 Vin#

I was thinking of buying a 6.9 but I'm unsure about the Vin to year correlation. The car is a "1980" but the Vin ends in ...004111. I assumed that the Vin number should be higher then that because a total of over 7000 6.9's were produced for the Euro and US market. Very few obviously came to the US and this is definitely a US car right down to the correct bumper rails and 170mph speedo. I'm just not sure whether the car is really the correct year as advertised. Any info would be very helpful!

I had one about 5 years ago and it was so much fun!! What a tank!! I sort of regret dumping that one so I'm back for more. But unfortunately its going to be a crapshoot since there is just so much that can potentially break especially with the suspension of course. And gas prices are completely insane! But who gives? I dont work for Greenpeace!
