CLS 500 brakes or R230 SL 500 brakes on 2003 E500 Sport: Can it be done?

I would like to mount the 13 inch front rotors of the CLS 500 or SL 500 on my E500, which has only 12.3 inch rotors as I just discovered (rotor part number 211 421 09 12). The CLS uses rotors 211 421 13 12, the SL 500 has 230 421 08 12 or 230 421 05 12. Can anyone tell me if the calipers are the same and if swapping the rotors with the CLS rotors or SL 500 rotors is a simple bolt on procedure?

Most likely not, because the caliper is in a fixed position for your 12.3in rotors. Now if you had the calipers and the rotors that could work.

Frank,

I tend to agree with redcoupe since the part number sequence is different after the 211 chassis number with 42.10 and 42.11 both being rotor part numbers. This alone would shy me away from attempting this.

You can check out the part numbers for the calipers the same way. Have you considered an aftermarket setup, something like what Brembro sells?

Anyway you go, you're probably going to have to make some serious mods to the existing suspension to allow the new rotos/calipers to fit/operate properly.

Good luck...

Regards,
paul....
