84 300DT daily driver
84 300D T transmission question
My 84 300D T shifts from 1st thru 3rd gears very quickly. At 25 mph, it will be in 3rd gear unless I really punch it. That will slow the shift speed down some. Also, it shifts incredibly hard from 1st to 2nd. Will snap your head back if not careful.
When I come to a stop, the car will make a loud clunk noise from the rear end at about 10 mph. Any clues as to what causes this? If I downshift the transmission manually, the noise is averted. Is this transmission noise or rear end? It sounds as if it comes from the rear of the car.
I've also noticed that the car does not readily downshift, it will struggle up hills instead of downshifting. I will manually downshift to maintain speed.
