Audible chirp doorlock

I have heard talk on this site about an audible chirp that a benz dealer could turn on in the "norway" settings. However, my benz dealer's service supervisor swears there is no such thing and that you only get the lights flashing. Does ANYBODY have a chirping sound on your benz when you lock and unlock the doors?

Many C-Class owners on the C32life forum have had this setting programmed into their systems. They report it works very well.

KWIK--Did the dealer have to program it or did it just come already activated?

You need to have the dealer's serivce Dept. Program that feature into your cards ECU, through their DAS computer.

I took my car in for alarm problems and when I got it back the alarm chirped. I didn't ask for but I like it. My service advisor swears that a Benz is not supposed to chirp.

My service advisor said the same thing! Bercedes don't chirp. He said he even checked with the head Fred mechanic in the shop. I wonder how we run this to ground. Is there a MB tech support hotline?

You can try calling 1-800-FOR-MERCedes for some help. I did that a couple months ago and didn't get much help.

Thumbs up MB chirp chirp

First you must have the MB factory handheld? lap top testor to go into the system go into programs then locate the
rear SAM program, then locate body, then norway and wa la ITS there to program the chirp, chirp, chirp on locking and a single chirp on the unlock Im a ex factory MB tech so I like PLAYN with the programs to find out different stuff also the norway program has a different fuel map because I dyno tested my c coupe before
any MODS done and removed the me control unit to read and store the info, reset the program to the NORWAY settings and retested/dyno tested and removed the me control unit AGAIN to read the map on the FLASH chip and its DIFFERENT!!! AND THEN DID THE UPSOLUTE SOFTWARE FOR MORE/BETTER POWER.For the final results on the dyno!!!!its a big H.P. increase So find a mb tech that WILL learn to do the mod for you because the SERVICE ADVISORS ARE THE LAST TO KNOW ABOUT ANY MODS

Mark, are you saying using the DAS system on the rear SAM to set norway mode affected the ME ecu ?

Or did you use the DAS system to tell the ME unit it was in Norway.

I ask, because I have a CLK55, and the US CLK55 is shown as having more BHP and a faster 0-60 time than the UK CLK55 ..
- my dealer will let me play with the diagnosis system on my car if I persuade him nicely ;-)

How did you read the map from the ECU ??

See Garage
I would print out this entire thread and take to the dealer and ask them nicely to learn something about their own automobiles that can benefit you, rather than simply say they've never heard about it.

Several owners have had the "Norway" settings programmed into their cars, and it doesn't appear to be model specific.

I do wonder what else you get from the "Norway" setting. Chirping locks can't be all.

Norway

Just picked up my C230K and asked to have the car 'chirp'.
The tech had no idea how this could be done so I showed
him the procedure. However there was no 'Norway' on the
last menu. He tried another country, which in fact did make
the alarm 'chirp'. But when he checked the Panic button
it did not function. So we decided to set everything back to
default. No 'chirp' but Panic button. Any suggestions?

i think the chirping sound is a great idea. my friend kept bugging me how his new beamer had a beeping sound and mine didnt. btw beamers are buiilt like ****. i drove it and its horrible. even when the rear view windows points down when you put it in reverse it sounds like a helicopter

anyways im gonna get the chirping done today at my dealership. its a great feature beacuse sometimes i press lock and it never locks. this way i know i locked it
