S55 Ignition Prob

I have a 03 S55 AMG with some sort of a wierd starting problem. For some reason the car will not start when I turn the key to the "start" position. To start the car I have to turn the key to the on position (position 2) and leave it there till "authorization" occurs. I know this happens when the 2 led's next to the abc sport switch (on the abc lift switch) light up and the display shows "PC" for gear selector. At this point the car will turn on. This delay ranges from 1 min to 5 mins. The car will eventually turn on every single time.

Few symptoms:

once the car has started it runs fine
i can turn the car off and on immediately afterwards
EIS has been replaced
I have 2 keys (one new ordered from the dealer) and both do the same
only codes available pointed to a bad shifter and it has been replaced 3 times
all 3 times the car behaves better for a few months after shifter replacement
no errors on display except teleaid (no service)
i can not open the trunk from the trunk switch - only w/ the key

any ideas?

Thank in advance
