Engine Codes P0700

Went to autozone yesterday to get my car codes read. I have 3 DTC code,

P0400 - EGR VALVE
P0500 - VEH SPD SENSOR
P0700 - TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM MAL.

I was wondering what the "Trans control system malfunction" might be. Would I have to take it the dealer to get the read? Do you think I would need to get a new transmission?

Thanks

I don't know which code reader/scanner AZ uses, but all those codes are high-level codes and don't tell you anything about the sensors that are causing the problem. For example, the wheel sensor code should also include a lower-level wheel sensor code telling you which side of the car or which sensor is showing a problem.

BTW, most readers/scanners can't provide any info on the MB Transmission Control Unit (TCU) and this would require a dealer/independent visit.

Regards,
paul...

Why did you have the codes read (symptoms)? Did you clear the codes and see if they returned?

I had the codes read at autozone, there were lights popping up like the abs bas light and check engine. I had them checked out and they gave me these 3 codes.
p0400
p0500
p0700

I found the first two, but I dont know what is wrong with the transmission. It seems like when I hit the gas to much, it would stay in second gear. Then when Im at a stoplight and go to hit the gas, it would rev to 2500rpm and then start going, once this happens, it would stay in gear and will not shift.

I hope you get what im trying to say.

Thanks

You will need more information then fault codes if you are going to diagnose the cause of the fault, a copy of all adaptation values are also needed. If your independent tech has that capability then go to him, if not go to your dealer, you what a print out of all module codes and all adaptation values.

Answer the questions please. If you ask for advice and don't answer the questions then you're on your own......if you don't think the questions are not appropriate then give a reason.
