Hi,

I am thinking about upgrade the transmission gear shift control unit from 99 to 00+. Does anyone have any information about it?

The TCM may not be Compactable with the “NEW” Electronic selector lever module, resulting in a limp mode condition. I don’t know if you can reflash or update the TCM, if you can then update to the latest soft ware, maybe one of the MB techs know.


Old strategy moving the shift lever to the left will only allow one gear down shift; new strategy moving the lever to the left will allow two of more gear down shifts depending on transmission / engine parameters.

So, I just need the TCM and transmission gear shift control unit replaceed together. Is it correct?

TCMs are version coded and are also matched to the transmissions valve body, shifter control modules are coded to the vehicle, the worse that can happen you may have a delay into gear, gear ratio error codes or other transmission and or shifter codes.

I don’t know if it will work, let me know what happens.

I was thinking about getting the used parts to make it work. But, if they are coded with the vehicle, it might be very difficult to do it in this way. Any suggest? Thanks!
