Transmission problem or Engine problem? HELP NEEDED ASAP!!

Hi i am driving a CLK 320 W209 model. last night i was driving and suddenly my car just lose throttle response and when i step on the pedal it just dont respond well it took around 5-10 sec for the car to gather speed and the ride was jerky. the maximum speed that i can attain is 30 mph. i tried turning off the car and on it again the "check engine" light is on. i tried moving the car again however it got worse and the engine seems to be shacking badly. so i park the car for 1+ hour and when i start the car again i manage to drove the car back home safely. and i can travel at around 65 mph. i am wondering what is wrong with the car. it has almost 40k miles and there is no more warranty left. is there any suggestion that you can give. how much would it cause to repair the car approximately? the "check engine" light is still on.

Thank you

It sounds more like an engine misfire, cost is depending on were that code leads the technician. First step, Retrieve all codes in all modules.

I had similar performance when the MAF (mass airflow sensor) was having problems. This is a common issue. Go by Autozone and ask to borrow their code scanner. Pull the codes and then post back here for someone to help you diagnose.

When you pull the codes write them down then clear them from your car. If the CEL shows again see if the codes match.

Ok so i went to autozone and did the code scanner.

when i press read it shows:

P0301

CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE DETECTED

P0302

CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE DETECTED

P0300

RANDOM /MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE DETECTED.

Same goes with all the other functions such as MIL STATUS , I/M MONITORS & TOOL SET UP OR TEST.

The Check Engine Light has disappeared.
What should i do now?
should i bring it to the dealer? would it be costly?

Thank you
