C32 mass air sensor
2003 C32, 40K miles. Non MB dealer diagnosed bad mass air sensor. Car has no power, especially at highway speeds. Any good sources to purchase one without going to the dealer (who wants $500)?
Thanks

You can buy this at Pep Boys for about $7.00 - http://www.crcindustries.com/hd/cont...x?PN=05110&S=Y

A bad MAF would normally throw a code and light the CEL. Any change in fuel consumption or is the car running hot? This could be a plugged cat or pre-cat which should be covered under warranty for like 80K miles. Here are some links to some possible soures for an aftermarket MAF sensor:

AMG V6 and V8's don't have AMM/MAF sensors. They have MAP sensors.
The most likely cause would be a failed intercooler circulation pump.

Well he may be half right, a C32 DOES have a MAF. Without a check engine light, it is probably not the problem. Sounds like the supercharger clutch is not engaging, which may be caused by the coolant circulation pump that was mentioned.

Okay now, both you and C43AMG have made many helpful posts to MBW.
The 112.960(1) in the C32 signals its Bosch ME 2.8.1 via speed density, not from a mass airflow sensor. Kindly post an EPC scan of our MAF's location if you believe otherwise.
Be that as it may, his loss of power is most likely from a faulty intercooler fluid pump.

Correct. None of the Kompressor V-6's or V-8's have an MAF sensor. That's mainly why not too many of them drivability problems. I'd like to see the dealer try to install a new one on the car.

Yep, I was mistaken, it should've written Kompressor V6 & V8's dont have a MAF
AMG inline 6, and non kompressor V8 have MAF sensors
the problems with late night posting.............
