what do these do?

hi, first time poster.

just about to buy a used 1998 slk 230k in the uk.
there are 2 buttons/switches that i have yet to find out about.

on the dash is a button that looks like a car tilted forwards and a hook on a cable dangling at the rear on the car.
what does it do?

and the other is a left/right knob situated in front of the roof button on the centre console.
what does this do?

looking at these pictures can anyone tell me more about the version/year of car i am buying?

the one with the car tilted forward is for towing the car.

the left and right switch is for the electric mirror adjustments.

Actually the one with the tow hook turns off the tow away alarm.

It's a good idea to switch off the tow-away alarm on a long ferry ride too if you lock the car and go for a walk. If there's any chop on the water the alarm will think someone is lifting the front end.
