please help 420se 1987 engine problem
Hi everyone,
I purchased a 420se mercedes 2 weeks ago, the only problem which is quite annoying is that when the engine idles it makes an annoying tapping noise. I just wondered if this is a common problem with the 420 v8 engines. I cannot locate exactly where the noise is coming from all I know is that it is definetely coming from the engine.
I would appreciate anyones advise/ knowledge to any idea of what it could be.

it could be the gaskets between the muffler manifold and the cylincer head, which could cause noise of that nature.
