Urgent help needed with ipod.

Hi guys, I'm picking up a brand new cls 63 amg tomorrow (thursday) and have ordered it with the ipod intergration kit. I've bought a new 80gb fifth gen ipod and need to know something. My ipod hasn't been delivered yet, but from doing a bit of reading, I understand that your music can be coded into two different formats. I believe it's mp3 or acc. Does anyone know which format works with command and the steering wheel? If both work, which is best for sound quality?
I have around three hundred cd's and was planning on coding at 128kbps quality.
Is this too low for the sound quality? I want to keep plenty of room in my ipod for new material I buy.
I just dont want to start doing all these albums only to find I have used the wrong format, as I'm sure you understand.
Thanks for any help guys.

As a practicing surgeon I have read med books that discribe an operation which is much less complicated than the owners manual that comes with any new Mercedes. But assuming you are inteligent you may have some luck and know that your new car will not experience quietus on "the table".

It doesn't matter what format you record in. MP3 is the more popular. Both compression algorhythms degrade the signal. AAC at 128kbps is inferior to mp3 at 160kbps. If you want the better standard, go with mp3.
Your car does not care what format it's in. It simply controls the player.

I have the IPOD integration kit and I am highly disappointed with the sound quality whether at 128kbps or 196kbps. The volume is pretty low, especially compared with that of the CD player and radio.

My Ipod installation worked out great. The W211 has none of the sound problems some have experienced.

If you are having sound quality/volume issues check out Kevin's thread:

I would add that the volume on my "factory" iPod kit (installed at the VPC) is fine.

Sound quality isn't great, but nothing sounds great on any Mercedes, BMW, or Porsche stock system I've ever heard. I found that the iPod sounds better with the Logic7 switched off. DVD-A's sound better with it on. CD's are kind of a toss up, on or off.

It does not matter what format you use from an operation standpoint, like someone said before, your car controls only the player. ACC has better sound quality from my experience, but I am not at all happy with 128. I like to use lossless for pieces where I want perfect sound quality, although 320kb/s ACC is nearly identical.

Bottom line, if you want to fit all your CDs onto your iPod and have as close to perfect quality as possible, use ACC @ 320kb
