Starting difficulties

Having difficulty starting my 2004 E55 after it has been idle for a while (i.e. overnight). The car cranks but won't turn over. I have to turn it off, then try it again, and it fires up the second time. After that, there is no problem starting the car after short rests. Any ideas what is going on?

If you have access to a fuel pressure gauge then check the fuel pressure after shutdown. You should still have a least 2-2.5bar after 30mins. If it's lower then you have a fuel leak in the system (either internal or external).

If it does drop then have a look at the fuel hose leading from the fuel tank (under LHR seat) for dampness and also have a look at the fuel dampener in the fuel rail next the the throttle body, I have seen a few of them leaking.
