TPMS....yes or no?

TPMS....yes or no?
My 07 GL450 has the "tire pressure warning" system..........warns if you there is low pressure on one or more tires but DOES NOT show individual tire pressures. Some guys are saying that the electronics to do the individual monitoring are there but that the programing has been flashed off for U.S. cars.......these same folks say that an MB tech can activate the sysem through the Star diagnosis system. Anybody know for sure? My service rep just sort of looked at me blankly.....

If the GL system is like the ML system it relys on sensing the tire rotation rather than the individual tire pressure. There are no individual tire pressure sensors. From first hand experience with my ML I can tell you that it does work very well. Saved me when I had picked up a nail. When a tire goes soft it changes the diameter and thus the rotation as compared to the other tires. Its smart enough to not trigger when you go around cornors, etc.

OK....thanks, that is good to know. I am fairly certain it is the same as the ML.
