infra red locking system
I have a 1993 SL500 and the locking system is not functioning. The fuse is fine.... when you activate the infra red at the door or trunk the lights are activated but no door locking. You can hear the motor running in the trunk which sounds the same as when it functioned. Any ideas? (815) 568-4378

Try at night, when there is no glare from the sun, and also see if the lens is oxidised. Maybe the laser beam is not being register anymore. I think from my car 2002 C230K the lock and unlock is radio transmitted, and the infrared is for opening and closeing pano roof and windows.

If the vacuum pump does not come on, then troubleshooting the vacuum pump is your next step.
If the vacuum pump does come on but the doors do not unlock, you have a break somewhere in the vacuum line.
If the doors do unlock, then you have a problem (somehow) with the vehicle locking system recognizing your infra-red key.
