heating system always on
I am new here, let's first present the situation.
I love good running cars and acquired some mechanical knowledge through restoring an old Chevrolet Camaro for the last 6 years.
I am just entering the merdedes benz world today as I recently acquired a very nice C220 from 1995. I got it for a decent price, partly because their is a problem with the heating system (for the passenger cell) : it is always blowing hot air inside the car, which is unconvienient in the summer isn't it?
A mechanic told me it must be the fan clutch, openend the hood, and noticed (the engine was hot) the fan was free. It told me the fan shouldn't be free moving. So the fan clutch is not working properly.
I contact you because I don't understant the link between the wrong viscous fan clutch and the heating system of a car.
I was thinking their should be a valve controling the amount of hot water going through the heating system heat exchanger..
Can you advice for the diagnosis?
Thanks
Marc
