Rough idle

Here's the story. About hours or so ago my "add oil msg came on". So I went to pepboys and got a qwart of 0w40 mobile 1 synthetic oil and added it to my car. Drove around for a while. Came home for a while. Went out for an hour at the driving range. As I was driving home the engine started to idle rough, still had power but when stopped it hunts from 500 to 1000 rpm. What has happened? If I change my oil am I ok or am I going to need to reset something. I have no malfunction msgs. Help

BMW E30. I've turned to the dark side.
I'm not positive your engine will react this way but you may have the filler cap on incorrecly or loose allowing a vacuum leak from the normally sealed engine. Another possibility is if you made a mess when pouring, you could have filled the #1 spark plug hole up with oil.
