GF messed up her gear selector
She spilled coffee on the gear selector of her 2000 clk 430. It seems as if it will create a short when triptronic mode gets used and the car will completely turn off, like hitting a light switch.
Does anyone know of a site where I can find diagrams or schematics for mercedes? I need a diagram or list of part numbers to get this damn thing fixed.
Thanks,

The selector lever contains an electronic control module which is more likely then not shorted / fried. What a coincidence, I just changed one on 2000 CLK 430 at my shop yesterday, the Symptom, blocked selector lever, you could not move the selector lever, which is the most common complaint with liquid contamination. To diagnose, you must retrieve all fault codes in all modules first.

most of the time when someone spills something in the shifter, it kills it. i have replaced so many shifters in my shop because of that. it is pretty expensive. thats why drinking and driving is bad.

This is a consequence of Mercedes accomodating the US market by adding a cup holder. Unfortunately the Krauts didn't forsee that the electronic control modules mounted directly under the holder would be fried by spills.
Germans don't understand why anyone would drink coffe or a coke while driving. ![smash](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smashfreak.gif)
Replacing the module requires removing the console which takes many hours of expensive shop labor. Hope you can do the work yourself.
