W124 Electric window problem
Hi Folks.
1988 W124 260E sedan.
Driver's side electric window just stopped goign down.
It isn't the switch, 'cos I've got the trim off the door and the motor/quadrant arm out.
I made the assumption that the motor was fried but the daft thing is, it isn't! I took the quadrant off the motor and tried the switch, turns in each direction perfectly. So I put the quadrant back on, but in the niddle of its travel rather than at one end.
Lo and behold, it moves the quadrant perfectly in either direction, UNLESS it's reached the end of its travel. If you are at either end then nothing.
The quadrant moves easily and the gear teeth on both the quadrant and the quadrant driver look fine.
So, any one got any idea why the damn thing won't work properly? 'Cos I'm stumped!
Simon.
