1978 450sl missing
Hi All,
I am new to the forum and would like to ask a question about my 450sl.
The car is a hard start and misses while idling and running.
I have replaced plugs, wires, and even replaced all the fuel injectors and fuel filter.
I took the car to a Mercedes dealer and they waisted $900 of my money by shot gunning replacing the plugs and wires again which were 3 month old and tore up the ones I had just put in. They wrote on the slip to drive the car and if the problem does not go away it would need a valve job
What else could be wrong and how can I diagnose the problem and fix it.
Thanks in advance,

How many miles on the car?
Engines need 2 thinks to run
gas/air and electricity.
so this is what you need to concentrate on, starting w the cheapest fix.
hard start either on cold or hot engine?
does it crank freely (battery fully charged should be 12.5Volts.... battery post cleaned, battery cables in good shape, in a 30ish year old car... cable can corrode internally)
at this point review all the connections for the ignition (coil... and so one)
do the spark plugs are the correct gap, the correct type... just use the recommended type for the vehicle.
is air filter up to specs
as for gas... is the fuel filter clean, fuel pump pumped... may need a pressure check....
