rear brake pad thickness-2002 C230K
The rear pads on my car are the same thickness as the backing plate? Is it replacement time? If so, does it matter which caliper piston is pressed in first-inboard or outboard? Thank you.

This image shows the rear pads removed from my MY 05 C320 sports coupe, after 76K miles, from my painted caliper topic. The pads still had life left, as evidenced by the distance from the surface to the sensor.
Examine the pads, near the sensor wire, to see how much is left until the wire is exposed.

Thanks. I do not have a rear wear sensor. My plan was to crack the bleeder valve, press one piston in, close the bleeder and put the new pad on that side. Then do the same for the other side. I've used c-clamps to press in pistons in the past on other vehicles-I do not have the "pad compressor tool".

The bleeder does not need to be opened, just push the fluid back into the master cylinder. A C clamp would work fine. Mine has the rear sensor on the passenger side only.
