There are some flat round parts under the car behind the front wheels, you'll know when you see them. In the back, use the diff.

2002 c230 sport coupe six spd. C7
Question

Can anyone tell me with certainty whether you can lift the rear of a 2002 C230 Coupe using the rear differential instead of the pads just ahead of the rear wheels? My intent is to utilize the rear differential to raise the car and place a jack stand at the pad location. Can the independent rear end sustain this kind of force without damaging something?

The four black pads are there for you to lift the car with. Use those pads. You can also use the rear diff too, but it puts a lot of stress on the diff bushings.

the prob w/ the pads is that they are cup shaped (relatively) and the jack's proprietary? plastic lift piece goes in like a hand into a glove. my sears jack has a standard circular pad and i'm afraid it would crush the plastic black pads. if its a problem to use the diff, i'll just continue to use the MB jack.

Stick a small piece of 2x4 wood in between the jacking pad and the jack.

C240 - 6 speed
Hi

Can someone post a picture of a W203 sedan resting on jack stands so I can get an idea on where to place them. I have been using the rear diff on all my cars with a 2x4 to distribute the load evenly. I have looked at the factory rubber jack points and they don't look like they will mate well with a jack stand.

Any other info would be appreciated.
I find it hilarious that both my porsche and bmw owner's manuals talk in detail on how to lift the car and how to service the car including oil changes, where as the owner's manual of my C240 does not even mention how to change the air filter.
