Auxiliary air valve, opening at roomtemperature?

Hi all,
I have a W123, 230 CE. The idling is rough when cold. My suspicion is it could be the auxiliary air valve as the mixture seems to be fat when cold and lean when warm.
I have tried testing the auxiliary air valve by putting it in boiling water and the freezer. The problem is that it never opened more than about 30% when could. It closed when put in hot water.

My question is how much it should be open at room temperature?

Regards,
Peter
