Car Turned off

Last week I was involved in a rear ended accident that caused me to do a 360 on the highway, when the car stopped spinning I noticed it had turned off in the process. Is there any reason why it would do something like that?

When your wheels are going backwards when you are in a forward gear, it kills the motor.

It's a fuction of the SRS system to kill the engine. In an accident of that size it would definately switch the engine off.

Not when your wheels are connected to the engine via a fluid coupling. See correct answer above.
